Hellboy, 2019 – 1/5

What an awful slog. Random plot direction, awful CGI, random gratuitous gory-ness. Save time and just watch the older version, because it’s way better.

I literally fell sleep during the last 30 minutes or so.

Abominable, 2019 – 3.5/5

An enjoyable romp through some of the sites of of China as Yi and her friends try to help a lost Yeti return home to Mount Everest while avoiding some evil corporate zookeepers.

This whole movie is almost overly optimistic and upbeat the entire way. They try to push a little twist with the villains but it’s handled so overtly is does’t really feel particularly impactful.

The music and visuals are both pretty neat. The plot relies a little too much on Deus Ex Yeti Magic.

Aladdin, 2019 – 3.5/5

If you have seen the animated version you pretty much know the plot. There are a few new curveballs along the way but nothing that changes anything significantly.

It’s a pretty nice retelling of the old film but nothing really new or unexpected.

Glass, 2019 – 3.5/5

A lot of people seem to dislike this film. It’s a little slow, but then so we’re it’s predecessors. The acting is pretty great from McAvoy and Jackson. Willis is alright but kind of just feels like he’s just there. I enjoyed it, it had a nice little twist ending that’s not quite one you would expect.

The Greatest Showman, 2017 – 3.5/5

A visually impressive presentation of a fictional presentation of the life of P.T. Barnam. The songs are decent though a little repetitive in their style. Most everyone seems to actually song though the lip sync is distractingly off at times. This is definitely one you watch for the presentation more than the plot, which is nothing more than a couple of layeres of flimsy love stories.

The Circus Sham is very present in the plot though, which is only really accurate to the life of Barnam on a superficial level.
